Great to see you had a good time I have to wait until May before I see it, but sounds like it will be worth it. Did the audience join in? Its a shame it wasn't full it will just be a feather in Christian voices cap they will take the credit.

Hi Tracey The audience was verrry enthusiastic, happily - I only noticed the theatre wasn't full when I looked round at the interval, it certainly sounded full! A x

YAY - thanks for such a thorough review Abby. Sounds like you had a blast, although it must have been strange with the distinct lack of a certain superstar... T'is a shame about the smaller audience, I guess we know who to blame for that. That pisshead Stephen Green - who I quote "Anyone interested in Jerry Springer - the Opera must like treading in dog shit"Yup- he swore. Was everyone doing the 'JERRY JERRY' thing and the arm actions?! Aggg I canna wait!

Did anyone see (hang on just going to find out the name of the program)......(back)
it was dispatches all about
Dispatches Rod Liddle reports on the rise of Evangelical Christianity in the UK. He considers how this branch of the faith could provide a new lease of life to the Church of England, and asks whether the extreme beliefs of some members - who denounce homosexuality, preach creationism and insist on a literal interpretation of the Bible - may cause controversy in Britain's liberal secular society.
Made my blood boil they showed them outside Jerry Springer the Opera.

Noo I didn't see that - shame, it sounds fascinating! Do you know if it will be repeated any time soon? Evangelicals do piss me off to a certain extent too, especially when they are in my local town centre trying to sell BIBLES to any passing person, and being bitchy to those who don't want to buy them, in other words people who are not Christians themselves! It's like they think that people who haven't been "enlightened" are inferior... Grr.
BTW - Claire - when/where are you going to see Jerry?

Right so I saw this in Milton Keynes a week ago (or was it two? ) Was so excited as the seats were literally front row centre- the most perfect seats in the house. When Steve came and stood right in front of us I started shaking I was that pumped up! OK so you could tell the budget had been slashed. The audience were visibly reduced to 5 per side, and instead of the telly screens that came down there were scrims at the back which the adverts were projected onto. A bit disappointing visually, especially with the lack of the green bricks in the set; it looked so different. But once it started... oh my goodness. The cast TOTALLY made up for any lack of a 'big spender' production- I was blown away. The new Satan is the spitting image of David, only younger, squeakier, and nowhere near as charismatic. His voice wasn't as deep and sexy, but he played the part very well. It was clear he was mimicking David's interpretation of the role, but I guess it would be hard not to ;D He was very sexy and a great actor, the resembelence between him and David was just freaky. The new Shawntel was great - more vulnerable and scared of Chucky. Adored the new/old Montel as he was a lot funnier and (in my opinion) had a better voice than Leon Craig. T'was nice to see ye olde Dwight and Peaches re-united, in addition to the amazing Valda Aviks as Irene- WOW! She was amazing, especially during the "he said that she said" and "some are descended from angels...". Tremont was... very different! More trashy and not as desperate- liked it. Rolf Saxon was brilliant as Jerry. He didn't just imitate the real Jerry, he dug deeper into the part and added more to the role than David Soul did. His portrayal was more genuine and heart felt, he really helped get across the message of the show and the satirical angle of it (the whole piss take of the JS show)... I really understood how it ruins peoples lives and changes them forever- I think he did a much better job than David Soul. As we were right behind the conductor, we were in the little screen that films him so that the musicians and actors can follow him and stay in time. Because of this the actors could see our faces on the screen, which obviously prompted me to make faces at them and make them giggle... and I swear Satan winked at us once The theatre was full, so despite reports from Christian Voice (aka scum) the show isn't doing too badly. The audience were loving it, and were really into the whole Jerry Jerry arm movement thing (the guy next to me even started doing it when Jerry re-appeared in his white suit during the finale!) There was ONE protestor outside, and I managed to have a civil discussion with her without causing much damage. Lets just say that I am now adamant that the whole organisation are ignorant foooooooooools. So.... yes. Sorry for the extremely long review, but I really enjoyed it and wanted to share me thoughts. The End
